The Kitchen Hand will contribute to the achievement of the Warrior Restaurant by maintaining the kitchen cleanliness at all times, assisting in the preparation and cooking of food, as well as ensuring stock is received, accounted for and stored on arrival in accordance with company procedures and that of Workplace Health and Safety standards.

To be successful in this role, you must have a demonstrated ability to work safely within a kitchen, have demonstrated knowledge of the hospitality industry and be a keen learner.

Duties Include: 

  • Washing of pots, pans, and kitchen utensils used in the operations and storing them in their correct position.
  • Maintaining a clean kitchen area which includes cleaning of kitchen surfaces, floors and equipment.
  • Receiving and storing deliveries in its correct place in a timely manner and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables properly.
  • Maintain a good level of Sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Support the team as and when needed.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and report any shortages.
  • Follow safety procedures and company guidelines and report any maintenance issues.
  • Operate and maintain dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment.
  • Assisting chefs with food preparation tasks like washing, peeling and cutting ingredients.
  • Working efficiently and cooperatively with others, establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Acting responsibly in promoting organisational objectives, standards and policies and leading by example.
  • Contributing to team success – actively participating as a member of a team to move towards the completion of team goals.
  • Accomplishing tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how small, showing concern for all aspects of the job, accurately checking processes and tasks, monitoring quality and consistency.
  • Committing to an action based on logical assumptions, factual information and the consideration of resources and constraints, organisational values in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to all HACCP food safety standards on a daily basis.
  • Ensure food is stored and labelled correctly at all times.
  • Maintain a high standard of food and beverage equipment, crockery and cutlery and utensils. All should be handled with due care.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

Essential Criteria: 

  • Available to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods.
  • Experience in a similar role and long term commitment to Australia Zoo.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (QLD RSA).
